About the position
The purpose of this position is to ensure and develop a consistent, positive, active and professional appearance of the Canadian German Chamber, keeping stakeholders in both countries up to date about CGCIC's various activities and services, and fostering Canadian-German business relations. This includes responsibility for the Chamber's social media channels, media relations, corporate design, and presentation, creating content and marketing materials, and offering communications support to the President & CEO.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring a consistent, positive, and professional appearance of CGCIC
- Informing about CGCIC's activities and services
- Implementing the communications strategy, revising if necessary
- Preparing and updating core messages
- Revealing inspiring stories, setting topics, developing content, ensuring consistency
- Preparing interviews, letters, talking points for the President & CEO
- Creating content daily for CGCIC's social media channels (focus on LinkedIn)
- Creating CGCIC's monthly newsletter and other content such as articles and videos
- Ensuring that communications follow brand guidelines and corporate identity
- Enhancing and updating corporate presentation
- Managing website content, finalizing re-design
- Supporting website optimizations and ad campaigns
- Contributing ideas & initiatives to further develop communication activities
- Maintaining excellent stakeholder relations with German, Canadian and international media, partner organizations and member companies, incl. handling of (press) inquiries
- Supporting other departments in the preparation of marketing materials
- Monitoring activities of German companies in Canada, Canadian companies in Germany as well as bilateral business relations
Working Conditions:
- Working hours and Travel: Occasional weekend and evening work is expected. From time to time national and international travel is required.
- Physical Effort: Most of the day in a seated position in front of a PC with the opportunity to move around.
- Physical Environment: Office environment with limited exposure to hazards.
- Mental Stress: Moderate stress from deadlines and disruptions, dealing with internal and external customers and clients and switching between multiple projects.
Required qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications or Marketing
- Experience:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in Journalism, PR, Marketing or related fields – longer experience is an asset
- Editorial experience across different communication channels including social media (LinkedIn)
- In-depth knowledge of website management and CMS systems
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Skills:
- Be fluent in German and English (knowledge of French an asset)
- Have superior writing, editing, research and communication skills in both German and English
- Have a strong interest in Canadian-German business relations
- Have in-depth knowledge of website management and CMS systems
- Have graphic design skills (e.g. Canva)
- Be a team player who excels at delivering high-quality work, a positive attitude, creativity, and attention to detail
- Be highly self-motivated
